The British Percheron Horse Society Stud Book Registrations
Pure and Part Bred Register

Pure Bred Foal Registration and Passport

All foals should be registered with a full passport from this society by 31st December of the year of their birth. A Passport will be produced at the same time as the foal is registered. To be eligible for pure-bred registration in the stud book, foals must be by a Licensed Stallion and out of a pure-bred registered mare. To register a foal, it must be micro-chipped by a Veterinary Surgeon and you must complete an application form which you can download from this page. An ID Silhouette diagram has to be completed by a Vet. If registering a Filly foal, you will need to contact us for a DNA Kit which has to be taken by a Vet.

Registration of Imported Percherons (Overseas Registrations)

The Society will enter into the breeding book, animals of the same breed, line or cross that are eligible for entry under the Society’s breed criteria, without discrimination on account of their country of origin. If you wish to register a horse from overseas, please contact passports@percheron.org.uk for more details.

Stallion Licenses

Colts are eligible for license at the age of two. Stallions must undergo and pass a Veterinary Inspection followed by a further inspection by two representatives of the Society. Contact passports@percheron.org.uk for more details.

Stud Prefix Register

Anyone wishing to register a pure bred Percheron foal must first adopt a prefix. Prefixes are registered with the Central Prefix Register. Contact passports@percheron.org.uk for further details.

Change of ownership applications for Registered Percherons and duplicate passport applications are the same form as for Equine ID passports as above.

The Data Protection Act
Under the terms of the Data Protection Act the Society has a responsibility to inform data subjects (horse owners) about the intention to collect data (which includes personal information relating to a horse owner’s name and address) and how that data will be used. Information supplied in connection with your application and other horse passport based information about horse and owner is held in order for the Society to carry out its mandatory requirements as a passport issuing organisation. From time to time the Society is required to make such information available to Defra, recognised enforcement authorities and the central equine database in order that they may carry out their responsibilities regarding the implementation of the horse passport legislation. The Society will also publish the data for registered Percherons in the British Percheron Horse Society Stud Book.
