At the AGM on October 27 2009, the Chairman gave thanks to outgoing President, Dr Miles Frankel, for his contribution during his term of office. Mrs Jacqueline Henfrey was welcomed as the President for the coming year. Mrs Henfrey and her family are long standing Percheron breeders and exhibitors who have supported the Society for many years.

2010 Breed Show

Due to the closure of the Royal Show, we are currently looking for a suitable replacement venue for the Breed Show. An announcement will follow as soon as possible.


 

Stallion Day 2010

To be held at Gull Farm, Deeping High Bank, near Spalding Lincs on 7th March 2010. This event is designed to give anyone who is looking for a sire the opportunity to inspect them early in the season. The stallions will be on show and the owners will be on hand to answer any questions. The Society’s Stallion panel will award premiums to those that are eligible to go forward and are judged by them to be of sufficient merit. Anyone wishing to have their stallion licensed at this event must ensure they have a Veterinary Certificate prior to arriving. Full details on how to get your stallion licensed and the necessary forms can be obtained from the Society Secretary.

The stallion day is also a social day and is open to members and non-members. Donations of raffle prizes and auction items will be gratefully received.


 

2011 PERCHERON WORLD CONGRESS - FRANCE

The Societe Hippiqué Percheronne de France will be hosting the next Percheron World Congress. It will be a three day event and will be held on 23rd, 24th and 25th September 2011. Details are as follows:

Return coach journey via Channel Tunnel crossing at Folkestone. Departing Thursday 22nd September - Returning Monday 26th September 2011. Hotel accommodation: 4 nights, Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal. The cost is estimated to be in the region of £370 per person based on two sharing a room. Single supplement is approximately £140. Price also includes travel each day to and from the Congress.

Logistics: The timing has yet to be established and we will endeavour to keep pickups and drop offs to a minimum; however, the following is currently envisaged. The Journey will start from Diss, Norfolk, and depending upon demand we can make one or two pickups on the way to the next pickup point which is Huntingdon, Cambs. Further pickups can be arranged en route to Folkestone via the M11, M25, Dartford Bridge and the M20.

The event is being held at the Haras du Pin, National Stud in Normandy, the last time was held there it attracted 50,000 visitors. If you are interested, you can find out if there is still available space by emailing pr@percheron.org.uk
